Woodwork for Beginners Book Review:

“Woodwork for Beginners” is a comprehensive guide to woodwork designed for those with little previous experience. This fantastic introduction covers all of the basic skills and techniques related to the subject, with chapters on the proper use and care of tools, types of timber, the fundamental joints, and much more. Profusely illustrated and full of expert tips, this classic handbook is not to be missed by those looking for an introduction to woodworking and related subjects. Paul Nooncree Hasluck (1854 – 1916) was an Australian engineer and editor. He was a master of technical writing and father of the 'do-it-yourself' book, producing many books on subjects including engineering, handicrafts, woodwork, and more. Other notable works by this author include: “Treatise on the Tools Employed in the Art of Turning” (1881), “The Wrath-Jobber's Handy Book” (1887), and “Screw-Threads and Methods of Producing Them” (1887). Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially-commissioned new biography of the author.

Everyday Woodworking Book Review:

Get started with simple, useful, handcrafted woodworking projects for everyday people—with only 12 basic tools! Lots of people want to try woodwork, but they get intimidated by dangerous power tools and difficult techniques. Good news: there are lots of ways to work with wood and anyone can get a few tools and start making projects. Everyday Woodworking starts at the very beginning—with wood. How can this common material make everything from furniture to houses? What makes it so strong? Why does it break? More importantly, what can you do to a piece of wood? Sometimes we cut it with a saw. Other times, we split it with an ax or shave it with a knife. This book explains why we choose each tool and how to pick the right cut for any project. As Rex likes to say: "Trust me, it’s not hard." Once you get a few tools and learn some simple techniques, you’ll start making things right away. You’ll begin with a simple mallet and some wooden wedges and then advance to splitting green logs into usable lumber. Next you’ll pick up a knife and a drill and after just a little practice, you’ll be making things you can give to your friends; things they’ll actually use: A wooden butter knife A desk organizer A few pieces of sturdy furniture Sawhorses A small workbench Each project is shown step-by-step with the beginner in mind. The projects are simple but not primitive. Everyday Woodworking will give you skills that you can build on as you grow as a craftsperson.

Cabinet Making for Beginners Handbook Book Review:

"A kitchen without a cabinet is like a body without a soul." This is what a wise cabinetmaker uttered when I asked what cabinet making meant to him. I have been practicing all the aspects of woodworking like Joinery, Woodturning, and Furniture making along with Cabinet Making, and I must say this art provides the maximum chance of impacting the overall look of your kitchen or bathroom and eventually, your home. Cabinets, for me, are an extension of your personality and a great way to express yourself. When I first started woodcraft, I looked desperately for a go-to guide about the specific processes and exact tools required. The content I found online was total information overload and wasn't presented sequentially. The books were either focused on just a few processes or assumed that I already had the necessary information. Many of the books were also very dated. There are two ways of learning: learning from SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) with years of experience, and the other is to acquire from people who are just a few steps ahead of you in their journey. I fall into the latter group. I've spent five years on this hobby and am still learning from the experts. I still remember my initial doubts and the first tips that helped me. This book is for those who are still running their first lap (0-3 years) in wood-crafting and want to gain a holistic idea of the necessary processes and tools. I've included photographs of realistic beginner projects, and I'll explain the processes and standard operating procedures associated with them. Below are the topics you would find inside: · Introduction to Cabinet Making · Cabinet Types, Doors, and Drawers · Tools used and best practices · Process and Techniques · 10 Beginner Projects · Recap and Safety Tips · Conclusion and Free Online Resources In the last chapter, I've provided a link to free online resources for planning your next projects. Cheers, and let's start the exciting journey!
