This is a book about an ancient writer, the J writer—the Yahwist—who produced a work of political imagination. Joseph P. Free's Archaeology and Bible History, first published in 1950, served well an entire generation of pastors, Sunday school teachers, laypersons, and college students by summarizing the history of the Bible and shedding light on biblical events through archaeological discoveries.
